The BLAST URL API (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/BLAST/Doc/urlapi.html)
has replaced the older 'blasturl' service. The blasturl and it's
urldemo tool has been used by some users to submit BLAST searches to
the NCBI.

The BLAST URL API has significant advantages over blasturl including;

	allowing results to be formatted multiple times in different
	formats

	support for more output formats

	syntax similar to the NCBI BLAST Web pages

In addition the URL API's server is monitored more closely that the
"blasturl" server and thus is more stable and more reliable for future
support.

Please move all applications using "blasturl" to the BLAST URL API.

The "blasturl" was formerly available from
ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/blast/blasturl/ but this directory has been
removed.
