GO Monthly Reports - Read Me

- What?

The monthly reports contain a concise summary of what has happened in
the GO ontologies over the past month: new terms, new defs, term
merges and obsoletions, significant term movements, and stats for the
ontologies. There is also information on items from the SourceForge
tracker that have been closed over the past month.


- When?

Generally released during the first week of a month.


- Where?

The reports themselves can be found at

http://www.geneontology.org/MonthlyReports/

The files used to create the monthly reports are the flat files
archived at

ftp://ftp.geneontology.org/pub/go/ontology-archive/

and the generic GO slim from

ftp://ftp.geneontology.org/pub/go/GO_slims/

Later reports also list SourceForge items, the data for which is
collected manually from the SourceForge website.


- How?

The hard work is done by a couple of perl scripts that collect the
data for a given month and its predecessor and then work out what
changes have been made. Occasionally there is some manual
intervention.
