          <attribute name="source-text">We investigated whether the toxin bound to MDCK cells could be recovered in Triton   X-100-insoluble fractions. As shown in Fig. 4A, when the cells were incubated with  125I-epsilon-toxin at 4 °C for 60 min, the monomer (28 kDa) of the toxin was found in the   soluble fractions (no. 7-10). We first showed that the monomer binds to the triton-soluble  fraction at 4 °C. When MDCK cells preincubated with 125118 I-epsilon-toxin at 4 °C for 60 min   were incubated at 37 °C for 240 min (Fig. 4B), the insoluble fractions (no. 3-5) were found to   contain an oligomer (about 180 kDa). As shown in Fig. 4C, oligomer formation of the toxin
 began after 15 min of incubation at 37 °C and reached a maximum after 60 min of incubation.</attribute>
