VAMP1,2,3 5 2. SEC22A, B, C - Not a SNARE protein. Maybe involved in ER to Golgi protein trafficking. 3. YKT6 4. VAMP4, 7 and 8 MF: -These are all vesicle proteins in the SNARE complex. SNARE stands for SNAP Receptor. They also bind to other members in the SNARE complex. Therefore, propagate both SNAP receptor and SNARE binding to the root. - Not strong evidence of syntaxin binding except for VAMP2. CC: - propagate SNARE complex to the root - propagate synaptic vesicle to the VAMP1,2,3,5 clade. BP: - Intracellular protein transport - Did not propagate. -- SNARE proteins are involved in vesicle fusion. Based on GO definition "intracellular protein transport", vesicle fusion is not part of the process. -- The evidences are weak. - Vesicle fustion - propagate to the root - exocytosis - SEC22 clade is involved in ER to Golgi protein trafficking. So propagate the term to root, but put NOT (sopt propagation) to the SEC22 clade. - VAMP1-3 is involved in the neurotranmitter release (synaptic vesicel fusion), so propagate those terms to the appropriate clade. # REFERENCE Annotation inferences using phylogenetic trees The goal of the GO Reference Genome Project, described in PMID 19578431, is to provide accurate, complete and consistent GO annotations for all genes in twelve model organism genomes. To this end, GO curators are annotating evolutionary trees from the PANTHER database with GO terms describing molecular function, biological process and cellular component. GO terms based on experimental data from the scientific literature are used to annotate ancestral genes in the phylogenetic tree by sequence similarity (ISS), and unannotated descendants of these ancestral genes are inferred to have inherited these same GO annotations by descent. The annotations are done using a tool called PAINT (Phylogenetic Annotation and INference Tool).
