# HISTORY 25 May 2016: Saved by krc using Paint 2.0-beta19 # molecular_function # cellular_component # biological_process # WARNINGS - THE FOLLOWING HAVE BEEN REMOVED FOR THE REASONS NOTED # NOTES This tree contains GPATCH2L and GPATCH2. . Phipps et al. (PMID:21318072, review from 2011) indicates that the human homolog of yeast SQS1 is GPATCH2 (NP 060510). However, S cerevisiae SQS1 was placed in PTHR23106, which contained the vertebrate genes SON and AGGF1, which both seem to be involved in splicing of weak splice sites by the spliceosome. . The node 9FUNG:PTN001134849 (containing Sc SQS1) was PRUNED out of PTHR23106 . Sc SQS1 is well characterized as part of the 90S preribosome involved in rRNA processing and biogenesis of the small ribosomal subunit. . In the absence of Sc SQS1 from this tree, no annotations can be propagated. Both of the two papers from which the experimental annotations come from in this tree look like high-throughput studies, and one annotation is only to protein binding. - Weimann M, et al. To this end, GO curators are annotating evolutionary trees from the PANTHER database with GO terms describing molecular function, biological process and cellular component. GO terms based on experimental data from the scientific literature are used to annotate ancestral genes in the phylogenetic tree by sequence similarity (ISS), and unannotated descendants of these ancestral genes are inferred to have inherited these same GO annotations by descent. The annotations are done using a tool called PAINT (Phylogenetic Annotation and INference Tool).
