Fast pass curation of PTHR11489 (RIBOSOMAL PROTEIN S2) family. Phylogeny One clade spanning archaea to humans. There appear to be several duplications and many very short branches among the mammals. MF -Propagate GO:0003735 "structural constituent of ribosome" to AN0. CC -Propagate GO:0022627 "cytosolic small ribosomal subunit" to AN0 based on widespread use. -Propagate GO:0030686 "90S preribosome" to AN0 based on PMID 12150911. -There's something to do with laminins. There's a "laminin binding" MF annotation, and several papers locating the rat protein to "basement membrane" (PMID 11553521), "extracellular matrix" (PMID 11553521), and "neuronal cell body" (PMID 15548204); the rate papers all mention "laminin receptor protein" (LRP). See also the GO:0005886 "plasma membrane" annotation for human (PMID 16263087) that mentions "LAMR1 phosphorylation." WE NEEED TO FOLLOW UP ON THIS. -This may be an artifact. PMID 8626693 says that these proteins are related to the laminin receptor precursor. BP -Propagate these 2 terms from yeast to AN0: GO:0000447 endonucleolytic cleavage in ITS1 to separate SSU-rRNA from 5.8S rRNA and LSU-rRNA from tricistronic rRNA transcript (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA) GO:0000461 endonucleolytic cleavage to generate mature 3'-end of SSU-rRNA from (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA) -Also propagate GO:0000028 "ribosomal small subunit assembly" and GO:0006407 "rRNA export from nucleus" from yeast to AN0. -Propagate GO:0006412 "translation" to AN0. MSL, 5 Jan 2011 HM, reviewed on May 19 2014 # REFERENCE Annotation inferences using phylogenetic trees The goal of the GO Reference Genome Project, described in PMID 19578431, is to provide accurate, complete and consistent GO annotations for all genes in twelve model organism genomes. To this end, GO curators are annotating evolutionary trees from the PANTHER database with GO terms describing molecular function, biological process and cellular component. GO terms based on experimental data from the scientific literature are used to annotate ancestral genes in the phylogenetic tree by sequence similarity (ISS), and unannotated descendants of these ancestral genes are inferred to have inherited these same GO annotations by descent. The annotations are done using a tool called PAINT (Phylogenetic Annotation and INference Tool).
