However, the WDR92 clade looks good enough in the overall alignment that it looks possibe that it belongs in this family, but has diverged significantly from the other two clades. The annotations for human WDR92 from Han et al. 2005 (PMID:16600877) are made to the wrong protein; they should be made for WDR5. Dispute in Protein2GO initiated (11/30/15) and resolved the next day. BUB3 clade: --------- BUB3 is a conserved kinetochore protein. PRUNED: Caenorhabditis_PTN000103969 - This node was pruned because in the MSA the two C. elegans sequences look quite different from the rest of the BUB3 clade, including the other 3 C. elegans sequences in this clade, and also due to the extremely long branch length to this node in the tree. RAE1, aka GLE2, clade: ------------------ RAE1 (aka GLE2) is a conserved cytoplasmic filament of the nuclear pore complex. # REFERENCE Annotation inferences using phylogenetic trees The goal of the GO Reference Genome Project, described in PMID 19578431, is to provide accurate, complete and consistent GO annotations for all genes in twelve model organism genomes. To this end, GO curators are annotating evolutionary trees from the PANTHER database with GO terms describing molecular function, biological process and cellular component. GO terms based on experimental data from the scientific literature are used to annotate ancestral genes in the phylogenetic tree by sequence similarity (ISS), and unannotated descendants of these ancestral genes are inferred to have inherited these same GO annotations by descent. The annotations are done using a tool called PAINT (Phylogenetic Annotation and INference Tool).
