Did not propagate translation initiation factor activity as technically this is a GEF that acts on EIF2 to regulate its translation factor activity, and does not directly possess this activity itself. Propagated GO:46523, S-methyl-5-thioribose-1-phosphate isomerase activity to root, as it is clearly ancestral (it is found in the EI2BL clade in eukaryotes as well as the bacterial outgroup, see PMID:14551435 for the B. subtilis mtnA protein. This function was apparently lost in the EIF GEF clade. CC Propagated GPO:5851, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B complex to PNTHR10233_AN2. Note that this should be changed to eukaryotic-archaeal EIF complex as it is also apparently found in archaea (PMID:21265752). Propagated cytoplasm to root. Did not propagate nucleus annotation of MRI1 or plasmodesma annotation of AT2G05830 as they are from a HT experiments. BP Propagated GO:6446, regulation of translation initiation to PNTHR10233_AN2 (as well as loss of L-met salvage) and GO:19509, L-methionine salvage from methylthioadenosine to root. # REFERENCE Annotation inferences using phylogenetic trees The goal of the GO Reference Genome Project, described in PMID 19578431, is to provide accurate, complete and consistent GO annotations for all genes in twelve model organism genomes. To this end, GO curators are annotating evolutionary trees from the PANTHER database with GO terms describing molecular function, biological process and cellular component. GO terms based on experimental data from the scientific literature are used to annotate ancestral genes in the phylogenetic tree by sequence similarity (ISS), and unannotated descendants of these ancestral genes are inferred to have inherited these same GO annotations by descent. The annotations are done using a tool called PAINT (Phylogenetic Annotation and INference Tool).
